September in the Netherlands – Prinsjesdag

This year on September 15th, Prinsjesdag, the Dutch Budget Day, will take place. On this day, taking place every year on the 3rd Tuesday of September, the King gives his Speech from the Throne in the Ridderzaal (Hall of Knights) in The Hague. The speech addresses all major plans of the government for the next year, to officially open the parliamentary year. Later that day, the Minister of Finance will present the financial picture of these plans to the parliament.

The ceremonies of Prinsjesday are usually reported live by the NOS on the Dutch television during the day, so if you are interested in Dutch politics, we encourage you to watch at least some parts of it!
